John Lemon - Riga

John Lemon ligger litt i utkanten av gamlebyen, så dette er ikke et sted turister flest tilfeldigvis vil ramle innom. Ser enkelte nettsteder beskriver John Lemon som "hip hang-out for local bohemians" - nuvel, det vil jeg si er å ta temmelig hardt i, men stedet er åpent seint og har bra utvalg av både drikkevarer og billig mat, så det er mye studenter her. Jeg syns John Lemon er et greit sted for frokost og lunsj, eller et lett måltid på kvelden.

John Lemon har litt av hvert vegetarisk på menyen - blant annet omeletter, pannekaker, bakte poteter, salater, et par supper (tomatsuppe, soppsuppe), pizza og det de kaller "hvitløksbrød", som jeg vil beskrive som en slags minipizza med tjukk bunn, med topping av for eksempel spinat og ost. Både pizzaene og de såkalte "hvitløksbrødene" er altfor fettete, syns jeg - osten de bruker er tydeligvis ikke spesielt godt egnet til oppvarming, så hvis du har lyst på pizza vil jeg anbefale å gå et annet sted, for eksempel til Pomodoro som ligger fem minutter unna. Pannekakene er tynne og gode, og suppene er visstnok slett ikke verst (har ikke spist suppe her selv).

John Lemon is situated on the edge of the old town, and isn't a place tourists tend to accidentally drop by. Some websites describe John Lemon as a "hip hang-out for local bohemians" - umm, well, the cafe is open late and does offer a decent selection of both drinks and cheap food, so there are quite a few students around. An ok place for breakfast or lunch, or a light evening meal.

John Lemon has got several vegetarian options on the menu - omelettes, pancakes, baked potatoes, salads, a couple of soups (tomato, mushroom), pizza and what they call "garlic bread" -which I'd describe as a mini pizza with quite thick crust, and toppings such as spinach and cheese. I find the pizzas and the "garlic breads" to be way too greasy, so if you fancy a pizza I'd recommend Pomodoro instead (a five-minute stroll away, in the old town). The pancakes are light and delicate and yummy, and the soups are supposed to be good too (haven’t  testet ‘em myself)
